PS3 Advert edited.

You might remember a little while ago I wrote an article about the adverts for the new PS3 prices. In one of them, there’s a line which goes

Bernie, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. Otherwise I’d be a Nigerian millionaire right now

The Nigerian government took exception to this line, which is fair enough, but does seem a little petty. However, Sony decided to replace a joke about a comical scam which fooled a few people who weren’t thinking quite right with a hilarious gag about a global conflict which killed over 8 million. Watch the embedded vid.

While I think Sony was right to change the ad, they surely could have picked a more tasteful subject to make a joke about.

Both ads, the original and edited, are great, but I don't think they should have changed it in the first place. Apparently, the Nigerian government is oversensitive.

When it's one of the largest sources of income to your country I'd take offense too.

Advertising is tough becuase certain things are sensitve subjects but I think if it is taken in the context it is meant then ….. they can change it now for the 3rd time!
