Nintendo Download Monday – Yesterday Edition

Submitted by on September 8, 2009 – 10:03 am2 Comments

nintendo-logo1Today’s (yesterday’s) Nintendo WiiWare/DSiWare update comes along with a friendly warning that the free 1000 DSiWare points offer is about to expire. Any DSi handhelds purchased and registered by October 5, 2009 get the $10 buff. Any bought after that get bubkis.

In ‘Ware news, today I learned the full names of the “stars” of Contra: Lance Bean and Bill Rizer. Contra Rebirth, thus far a 1000-point WiiWare exclusive, replaces Lance with space samurai Genbei Yagyu. You may remember him from 2004′s Neo Contra. Or you may not.

Also on offer, there’s the color-wheel-focused ColorZ (700 points) for WiiWare and the last Virtual Console installment in the Super Star Wars series, Super Return of the Jedi (800 points). The press release hilariously lists Bib Fortuna first on the list of the “the darkest of the dark side” baddies you’ll face. Bo shuda!

Then there’s another “Express” version of Clubhouse Games, proving that, like the Native Americans, Nintendo plans to use every last part of the Clubhouse Games corpse. This “Family Favorites” morsel includes Hearts, Contract Bridge, Dominos, Dots and Lines, and Ludo. All for 500 points.

Full press release after the jump.

I am glad you mention the 1000 point bonus. I have not done that yet for my son's DSi. Guess I know what I am doing tonight.
