Microsoft Jumps the Gun for Rock Band Wireless Mic Compatibility
So, if you have walked into a Gamestop recently, or turned on your Xbox 360, you would have seen the advertisements for the recently released Wireless Microphones. The microphones are the same ones that came with Lips, and the one mic is running with an MSRP of $49.99.
However, there are a few issues here that Microsoft really has to work out with this new accessory. First off would be notifying your game developers that you are releasing the device in question so they are not bombarded with questions as to where is the support. If you look at the picture, and the Xbox.com page for the wireless microphone, it prominently shows the Rock Band logo, but the support patch will not be released for Rock Band until September 9th. Secondly, if you are going to release one wireless mic at a $50 price point, you might want to wait until the Lips blister packs are completely cleared out. You can pick up Lips at a lot of retailers via clearance for $30 and it includes not one, but two wireless microphones. Just a heads up there.
That said, I am happy to at least know that the patch for support in Rock Band is imminent.
