I have totally pwned Trip Hawkins
Trip Hawkins, EA founder and 3DO failer, has now been roundly humiliated by yours truly in a blistering game of Tower Bloxx Deluxe 3D.
The iPhone version of said game includes this strange little challenge: beat Trip’s high score and receive a “virtual high-five” from Mr. Hawkins. Trip’s current company, Digital Chocolate, created Tower Bloxx. If you haven’t played it, it is the king of casual gaming… you just need to tap a single button to play. The iPhone touchscreen means you don’t even get the button.
Kind of weird, right? It’s not like this guy is a household name, especially to casual iPhone gamers, but the game’s treatment seems to think he is. Or that he should be, I guess. That “I Beat Trip” graphic ought to be available on t-shirts.
Here’s my score from the first time I beat him:
I swear my latest high score is over 100! Really! Trip sucks!
Isn’t “just beaten” some seriously funky grammar?
But how many of you can say THAT. I should hang it on my fridge.
Tower Bloxx Deluxe 3D sells for a mere $1 on the iPhone App Store. How much would you pay to beat Trip Hawkins?

How can you say that Trip “3DO” Hawkings is not a household name. I mean, didn't everyone own one of those 3DO consoles. He said they were the future of gaming. Could he have been right, but at the wrong time. Oh the paradox.
I used to see Trip sometimes in Vancouver when he lived there (where the first EA was).
Ahh the 3DO, just too damn expensive! I did end up buying the Jaguar though, also highway robbery.
ah,..the 3do. I mowed alot of lawns for that sucking chest wound of a game system and a copy GW's Space Hulk. I got lucky and traded (read ganked/screwed over)a friend with the game for a Dreamcast w/Soul Calibur and Shenmue. I lost the friend. Shenmue changed my life. Ifeel I'm a better man for enduring the whole ordeal.
Household name? Absolutely! Who didn't grow up playing Madden Football. His company, Digital Chocolate, makes my favorite Iphone games. Tell me you don't love Tower Bloxx!
