Dexter Comes to Your iPhone

I like Dexter. I know it’s wrong to like him, what with all the murdering he does and stuff, but as one of TV’s most intriguing antiheroes, you have to give him credit for being one of the most likeable serial killers in the history of television.
When I first heard about Dexter: The Game all I felt was a big, fat meh. I’m afraid I’m not a fan of gaming on the iPhone – all of my purchases to date have been lukewarm at best – and I’ve been burnt before by mediocre TV show-to-game ports. Reviews to date have been favourable though, with reports that HBO Showtime and Icarus Studio have worked closely together on the title, and as it hits the App Store this week at $5.99, I’m wondering if it’s worth the gamble. How about you?
Best yet? Every purchase comes with the chance of winning lunch with one of the show’s writers and a walk on role in season 5 of Dexter, as well as DVDs, shirts and other HBO goodies. Who else wants to be murdered on screen?

HBO worked closely with them? That's amazing helping a competitor out like that.
I love that show.
Pft- my bad. Finger slipped. I blame all the True Blood I've been watching.
And I thought Dexter was weird. He is tame compared to True Blood.
If you want bad acting, you watch True Blood. If you want good acting, you watch Dexter.
Okay… The woman that plays Debra Morgan (Dexter's sister) is not a great actress, but it's still a great show!
NO WAY! Debra rocks! I think she's my favourite character!
And whilst TB does indeed lack a convincing cast, I'm still loving it.
Eh… Her character just seems so fake to me.
I think the best so far have been Miguel Prado and, of course, Dexter Morgan.
I'm just now watching season 3 on Blu-Ray and, wow, I'm amazed at the transformation that Jimmy Smitts plays.
The only thing is that I think the show is starting to become very cliched. Almost everyone he comes in contact with third-party is a killer–serial or not.
I'm waiting for Rita to admit to him that she's one too.
The whole Miguel Prado situation makes for a very interesting season. It plays with your emotions so much, and has an amazing end. Unfortunately, I don't have Showtime, so I have a long wait until Season 4. That is, unless I travel through the seedy underbelly of the Internet to watch it.
Nat: Yes, I know what you mean. But it's a show about a serial killer working for the police – it's not a show steeped in gritty realism …
I liked the Prado thing, but I think it got a bit silly towards the end. Am loving that Caradine is coming back to S4, and I can't wait to see what Lithgow brings to this season.
I loved how much the show forces your opinion of Prado to change. First, it's pity; then, you start to like him; until, finally, they have you begging for Dexter to end it.
