Courtney Love Goes Crazy on Activision via Twitter
Recently, it was announced by Activision that they were bringing the likeness of Kurt Cobain to the Guitar Hero 5 title, which creeped me out when I read it. I mean, do we really need to see Kurt Cobain belting out Public Enemy or Elton John hits. Well, Mrs. Kurt Cobain does not think so.
As of this morning, Courtney Love has been posting on her Twitter feed all morning, railing into Activision, swearing up and down that she did not approve his likeness for the game, and that Kurt Cobain would hate Guitar Hero. While I am not totally sure who controls the Kurt Cobain estate, I would assume that Courtney Love would have some say in his matters, considering she was his spouse at the time of his death. And yes, she is threatening Activision with a lawsuit. Check the jump for some of the jucier bits, which are very hard to grab out of her stream of consciousness.

I find it very hard to believe that Harmonix would use Cobain without approval from someone. Not impossible to believe per se, just hard …

I would agree. Neversoft and Activision would be crazy to do this without the proper authorization, but not knowing who holds the rights to Kurt Cobain's likeness could be a huge issue in this case if it goes to court.

Sure. Unless the likeness of a dead person doesn't belong to anyone, which is a possibility. Besides, whoever's making the people in Guitar Hero makes them look like corpses on strings anyway, so it's bound to be a solid fit. Of course, they'd have to leave the head on so he could sing, unlike the real Cobain.

Leave it to a class act like Love to come to the defense of a guy who blew his own head off. Further, this is the same woman who lead at least one of her concert audiences in chanting “ass hole” about the man after he died.
