The two titles, Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver will return players to the Johto region that players first visited back in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Not much else was said, but the announcement was made at the 2009 World Pokemon Championships, and that I am sure our very own Fourhman probably had a few heart palpatations after seeing the news.

First of all, if Nintendo had not pulled the Pokemon TCG Championships from the Origins game con in Columbus, Ohio, I would have BEEN THERE for this announcement.
I'll note that there is no mention of the pedometer accessory that will know will accompany the Gold/Silver DS release in Japan.
I think I may go Gold this time, since I was Silver back on Game Boy Color.
I doubt I'll be picking either of these games up. I don't want to play a remade Pokemon game; I want to play a completely new Pokemon game. Will there ever be a time where only one Pokemon SKU is released and it's not followed a year later by the same game with a slightly different name?
Well no, but what does that matter? By now, we should all be expecting the triple “finisher” to each generation… so when you saw Diamond/Pearl coming out, you would have figured that Platinum was coming and if you want to wait for the “definitive” version, you can wait.
Regardless, that doesn't really apply here since HeartGold/SoulSilver are remakes of games from ten years ago. Not to mention that, guess what, I bet the core gameplay and storyline are the same as every single Pokemon game now and in the future. Catch pokemon. Win badges. Become the champ.
The real point is, what extra stuff do they add each generation to move the game forward. The DS generation added touchscreen control (obviously, but it was inconsistent in the UI throughout), the GTS, and that weird underground zone. Even as a big poke-fan, I'll say they did not add enough (DS poffins are way suckier than the pokeblocks of R/S/E). But the graphics in these remakes look nicer, they will likely include some of the enhancements of Platinum over Diamond/Pearl, and here's hoping they keep Gold/Silver's deliciously insidious real-time clock.
Why don't they just take the time to only release the definitive title? If there are going to be five new Pokemon SKUs every generation, I'll stop paying for them. Shoddy Battle is a lot more fun anyway.
That is an exceptionally stupid question. You might as well ask why they didn't just hold all the Fallout DLC for the Game Of The Year edition.
But the DLC for Fallout 3 isn't the same thing over and over again. The three Pokemon games are essentially the same thing.
More Pokemon = More Money
Who cares if its the same thing?
Will it is the same thing but it has diffrint pokemon. I wolud play the games wien i graduate school and i think it is cool that they make the pokemon games with diffrint pokemon on every game that thay make.
Pokemon games and cards are very cool!!!!!!!!
