Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

God Of War I & II on PS3 This Fall

godofwar_medusa_twistThere was a poll quite a while back asking the PlayStation faithful (well, those who register and keep their info up to date on Sony’s PlayStation website, anyway) what kinds of preorder bonuses and such we’d like to see for God of War III, among other things. One of them was a reissue of God of War on Blu-ray. This was a strange question to hear right from Sony and just about everybody looked at it and said “Nice of them to ask, but they’d never do that.”

Like a head-butt from Kratos to a Minotaur I’m knocked down flat and stunned to hear that God Of War I and II will be released on a PS3 blu-ray game disc with remastered 720p graphics and Trophy support this Fall, courtesy of BluePoint Games. All of that for a nice USD$39.99 price.

This is the perfect way to tide gamers over until God of War III launches in 2010 and is a rather nice vehicle to paste trailers and other promo goodies into ahead of that game’s launch.

Being that I never really played either of these titles, I am big time interested. I guess this is one way to handle backwards compatibility – remaster and release older titles at a new price point. I wonder if other titles could undergo this kind of care by Sony and company.

Not really a big God of War fan… I thought the first one was pretty mindless, in a mostly-good way. But both games for $40 on PS3 with trophies is pretty amazing. I never played the second one and it has been long enough since I played the first that I probably wouldn't mind playing it again. Also, wasn't $40 the original MSRP of both of these, separate, on PS2?

Will need to see what they mean by remastered, though. I don't want to play something that looks like a PS2 game… although this one certainly was a fine looking PS2 game.

Hoping Fourhman decides not to play this, so it gives me one extra game to catch up on him via trophies.

This sounds like an incredible deal. I never played either of the God of War games, but I planned on picking up the third one. It will be great to catch up on the series before the third one hits the shelves. Plus, at $40, this is a steal!

Now on my list of games to buy… it just keeps growing. Too many games this year….

Oh, previously they were $50/each on the PS2.
