Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Ghostbusters on PS3: patched

I CAN HAS PECK?

No, I don’t have a Ghostbusters quote on hand to work into the post title. Please post your own in comments. Maybe the one about cats and dogs sleeping together.

IGN has posted what looks like an official Atari press release that details the multiple issues that the PS3 patch addresses. Available now, the patch increases the resolution on the PS3 to match what is seen in the 360 version of Ghostbusters. More importantly, “freezing issues” have been fixed. One assumes this covers the most notable glitch, the Game Video Locks Up During The Library Scene bug.

I did not know of this one, but apparently some messiness caused a couple of multiplayer Trophies from unlocking. That has also been fixed.

What the patch does not repair, I’m guessing, is the off-putting control scheme, the unnecessary rehash of events and dialogue from the first movie, and the clumsy did-you-miss-it saving error that Mike has alluded to on the podcast.

The press release AGAIN hypes up Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd as having “penned” the game’s script, even though Ramis revealed to ToyFare magazine some time ago that all they did was punch-up an existing script.

YAY! It's about sodding time, too.

It is about time for Atari to put this patch out. I am so glad Atari got back to us when we asked about the issues with the PS3 version. I mean, it was only three months ago when we emailed the question.

Someone needs to hit them with a Bozon Dart. Or is it Bogon Dart. I should know this, considering the hundreds of times I have heard Ray mention it.

It would be nice if they threw in a new Trophy:
Mass Hysteria – Managed to complete the game before the patch was released.

On a side note, I'd love to pick this back up and finish out my Trophies, but playing on-line is so hard because of the lack of players. The one time I played on line, I could not complete much more than one round with a player, and could not ever get a full team of people. I have a bad feeling that this patch is too little too late to save this wonderful franchise. Oh Ghostbusters, how you have been doomed again. /sobs
