Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Toys R Us goes gift card mad over Wii Sports Resort, TODAY ONLY

Submitted by on July 26, 2009 – 10:12 am6 Comments

tru-resortadIf you’re considering picking up today’s release of Wii Sports Resort, you may want to hustle down to your local Toys R Us straight away. The store is celebrating with a great gift card deal until 2pm, and there are some ancillary deals that will last all week. Here’s how it breaks down:

Sunday, July 26, 10am-2pm ONLY, if you buy Wii Sports Resort you get a $20 gift card. YOU MUST BE A REWARDS CLUB MEMBER, but joining the rewards club is free, so why not. If you buy WSP and one game from a very sketchy list, your gift card goes up to $30. Two games, $45. The list of applicable games is after the jump, along with a scan of the ad. Remember, for this deal you need to be a Rewards R Us member!

This is on top of the $5 gift card that you get for pre-ordering Wii Sports Resort through TRU. So I’ll end up with $25 in gift cards even if I choose against any additional games. That will get me another Wii Motion Plus for free, plus $5 extra!

For the rest of the week, the games on The List are still under a deal that is NOT exclusive to Rewards members: free $10 gift card with purchase of any one, or $25 gift card with purchase of any two. I’ll spare you some suspense and claim that the best game on the list is Boom Blox Bash Party, but you can check it out and decide for yourself.

The List – deal ends Saturday, August 1 (presumably)
MLB 2K9 – $50
Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout – $30
Little League World Series Baseball – $40
Boom Blox Bash Party – $40
Space Camp – $20
Science Papa – $30
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games – $50
Up – $40
Wii Sports Resort – $50 (go ahead, buy it twice!)
Twisted Towers – $30
Overlord Dark Legend – $50
Guitar Hero Smash Hits – $50
Birthday Party Bash – $40
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen – $50
Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – $50
MySims Racing – $40
Raving Rabbids TV Party – $40
G-Force Silly CG Hamster Movie – $50

As always, your local Toys R Us deals may vary. I’m so sad Little King’s Story isn’t on this list.

That's a hell of a deal. I wasn't planning to get Wii Sports Resort. At all. This is making me consider picking it up, but I better think fast. I only have a couple of hours to decide for sure.

Yeah, we couldn't resist the deal. Used the $20 card for a second MotionPlus.

Way too late for me. I was on the road back home (from the beach). I won't be picking up Wii Sports: Resort up anyways, though.

  • I had my $1 down at Target, what with that whole $5 gift card thing in effect for all pre-orders.

Toys R Us dominated that pretty hard, but day-before isn't quite enough notice for me.

While I'd have saved money trashing my Target reserve card and going to TRU early in the morning (I did buy a second MotionPlus adapter, which would've been free-ish), Target's closer and I didn't have a lot of free time to go Sunday.

    Thus, I missed out.

The game's good, thus far. All y'all haters can suck it.
