The Darkness Finally Has a Confirmed Sequel

In 2007, The Darkness was released to decent reviews, but what seemed to be less than expected sales. I for one, found the story to be highly entertaining with one of the best “oh shit” plot twists that I have come across in a game. The biggest downfall for The Darkness was the lame desire to force in a multiplayer component into a game that had no need for it.
Topcow has decided to officially announce that The Darkness would get a full blown sequel, and that the first game would get a Greatest Hits release at a $30 price point. The price point seems pointless as the game seems to be retailing for far less than that amount, unless there is new content, or preview content for the new sequel. Starbreeze however, does not look to be back for the sequel.

I do have some concerns on how they go forward with the sequel as it seemed like the game was taken care of in a tidy manner at the end of the first game. That has never stopped comic book heroes or other gaming figures, so I am sure some creative point will be made to bring Jackie back to life.
I would hope that 2K Games and whoever decides to make the sequel decides that The Darkness does not need a multiplayer component, and instead flesh out some of the great characters that have been created. Also, it would be great if a PC version would come about, but surprisingly, the game controlled great with a gamepad.
