Why don't they just take the original Katamari Damacy, throw in some trophies, and put it on the PSN like they did with Buzz? They could sell it for $10 or so and people would eat that up. I can't see them ever recapturing the success of the original.
I must agree. The magical year from 04-05 was lightning in a bottle for the Katamari franchise.
I noted during E3 that Sony displayed Katamari Forever during the PSN video montage, so I figured this WAS indeed a downloadable title. But I think later news has suggested this will end up as a $50 retail release.
It does seem like it would be, as you say, far more successful as a PSN title.
$50 for Katamari? Maybe if they took all the PS2 games and crammed them onto one PS3 disc with trophies and online content. Maybe a level builder?
I don't think the price has been officially announced, but everybody (GameStop, Amazon) is already listing it at $50. Here's hoping that drops, or Katamari (formerly a PS2 budget release) will end up another victim of the Sony Third-Place Hardware Sales Tax.
