I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

GamesCom 2009 is set to be held at Cologne this year, which is in Europe for those of you that don’t know. So far. So very far. Well, for those of you that can make the trek, it’s set to take place from August 17th to the 19th.

We’ve seen recently that as E3 slowly becomes less popular many other conventions are themselves increasing in popularity and are gaining far more support from big name companies such as Square Enix. GamesCom is one of the newer conferences and is steadily growing in hype and popularity. Many big name companies will have main attractions at this year’s GamesCom, including several titles that were surprising to see on the list.

For example, Square Enix very recently posted their line-up for GamesCom 2009 and to the surprise of many Final Fantasy XIV happened to be on the list:

FINAL FANTASY XIV
Developer: Square Enix Co., Ltd.
Brand: Square Enix
Platform: PLAYSTATION 3 Computer Entertainment System / Windows PC
Genre: MMORPG
Release Date: 2010

The surprise announcement of E3 2009 is set to be one of the main attractions at GamesCom 2009. An all new massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), planned for a simultaneous global release with language support in German, French, English and Japanese.

Adventure begins anew in the vast realm of Eorzea!

Square isn’t the only company to list interesting titles on their line-up so you can expect to see a flood of fresh information come out of the conference. Great news for gamers of all colors indeed.

Hmmm. Is this worth popping over from the UK to visit?

If I hadn't have *just* come back from France, I think I'd chance it. Bad timing, GamesCom. :(
