fatprincess_logo_310pxFat Princess staggered into and out of beta a while back and while I didn’t see or try the beta its unique art style made me giggle. My initial impressions of it as a capture the flag game where the flag actually grows and gets heavier and harder to carry thanks to happily eating tons of cake wasn’t entirely accurate. I just finished listening to the interview with the developer, Titan Studios, on this week’s PS Nation Podcast Episode 123 and it comes across as a more diverse action-oriented multi-class game that ensures all roles have fun and the AI will pick up the slack taking on roles you’d rather avoid.

Speaking of AI, one of the funnier bits of the interview covers AI character names. Apparently the names run the gambit from Arthurian legend names like Percival and Lancelot all the way up to funnier twists like Solid Cake and Liquid Cake. The silly touches like this include one-liners from the fantasy characters such as the dignified king saying “You’ve been pwned!” This along with diverse and fun gameplay options they run through in the interview has me excited for the upcoming announcement of a release date.

Give it a listen over at PSNation.org, or check out the official PlayStation site page. The developer’s site also links to the heaps of awards they’ve been earning at E3 and other shows on the road to release.
