Runes of Magic Chapter II Announced

With my PS3 out for repairs you’d think I’d be playing my PSP, but I’ve spent most of my time on my laptop checking out E3 coverage and playing the free-to-play, microtransaction-supported Runes Of Magic. I enjoy its classic MMO feel and there’s enough solo content around that I can sidestep the usual bigger quests that need groups to take down bosses without too much trouble.
Frogster Interactive has announced Runes of Magic Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy. Slated for a phased rollout across two months it will add new areas, the Elves as a new playable race, and the long-awaited two new character classes. The level cap will be raised from 50 to 55 by the time all is said and done, giving all of those dual-class 50/50 people something to do for about 2 or 3 evenings of focused play.
They also plan some graphical, sound, and musical improvements to the game, which gives me a bit of pause since I play on a 1.5-year-old Vista laptop that I’m not keen to replace for another couple of years. We’ll see what happens in August when the first phase of the rollout of Chapter II begins.
