Happy 25th Birthday, Tetris

It’s hard to believe that one of the most played Russian brick-laying games is now turning 25. That’s correct, back in 1984 Alexey Pajitnov unleashed what soon would become one of the largest game phenomens. It has spawned a port to nearly every electronic portable platform and even a lawsuit or two. Oh, and there’s even been some live performances. So here’s to you, Tetris, on your halfway mark to Over The Hill status. For me one of my favorite memories from Tetris was playing it on the NES, on the hardest difficulty levels trying to get special ending videos. It's come a long, strange way. I still can't puzzle out (no pun intended) why Nintendo has discontinued Tetris DS. The used market for the game is very strong on eBay, to the point where I'm tempted to resell mine. Most of the copies on there now are pirated.
I remember playing Tetris on the NES and trying over and over again to get good at it. It didn't work.
Tetris and I were both born in 1984. I think that is more than coincidence that I love the game so much.
