Rockstar Leeds has announced that their critically acclaimed DS title, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be coming to the PSP this fall.  GTA: Chinatown Wars will be available as a UMD retail disc, or as a digital download for the PSP.  Rockstar did not give any information on whether there would be any changes or additions made for the new platform, but lets hope for recorded dialogue and new music.

GTA: Chinatown Wars received high praise from our own Joe Fourhman, and the press at large, but sales were less than stellar for the DS exclusive, probably leading to the decision to port the title to another platform.  Of course, the PSP has a lower market penetration over the DS, so I am not sure I follow the logic of releasing it to a new audience that is smaller.  But I do know that I will wait for the PSP version of GTA Chinatown Wars, if only for a bigger screen and the possibility of voice actors.

I am sure they will probably change or remove some mechanics, while adding others that were not in the DS version. I just sent back my rental of the DS version, just to get the PSP version.

I know! Chinatown Wars was perfectly suited for the DS and used the touch screen in so many ways. The PDA feature really made the game feel so much easier to control and organize.
