Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

A Day Without An Xbox Live Connection

Submitted by on June 16, 2009 – 9:38 am13 Comments

xbox360cantconnectFor the last few days, we have been told that Xbox Live would be shut down for the day on June 16th, but when the outage actually comes, you forget how much you are tied to the service.

Last night, I was still working my way through Lost: Season One, when 12:06 AM brought the dreaded message, “Xbox Live Is Disconnected”.  While I was not in the mood to game at that point in the evening, I did find it amusing that true to form, Microsoft was behind schedule by five minutes.

But in all seriousness, it is funny to look at how dependant you are to your Xbox Live services until you cannot get access to it.  Things like Netflix, which requires you to be logged into Xbox Live, are no go during the outage.  People that spend huge amounts of time with Call of Duty 4 multiplayer, or Gears of War 2 multiplayer will probably take a big does of withdrawl by not being able to play.  For me, I am not sure if the Games for Windows Live service will be able to log in, which affects my access to saved games in Fallout 3 at lunch, so I am changing up what I will play on my lunch break.

But fear not, there are some things that you can do to conquer the Xbox Live Blues.  You could:

  • Read a book
  • Watch some Burn Notice on Hulu.com
  • Single player games are cool too, like Bioshock or Mass Effect
  • Experience the outdoors and nature (That might be too much to ask)
  • Clean up around the house
  • Play a real board version of Battleship or Ticket to Ride
  • Play a PC game (again, too much to ask)
  • Draw a timeline for Infinite Crisis

And if all of these sound like massive amounts of fail, you could go to the backup plan of sitting there, clicking the Connect to Xbox Live button over and over until your connection is restored.  All you have to lose is your dignity.

I'll save you guys some trouble on the Infinite Crisis timeline:

Earth-Prime Superboy punches holes in the universe -> Multiverse exists again.

And at some point, the Spectre went nuts and stepped on Atlantis.

Now look who has to come in and kick the sails out of someone's fun. I guess I could have said explain how the space time continuim works out so Hulk and Green Goblin can be in the Civil War depicted in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

First things first, Joe Haygood is watching Lost. Please everyone give him a round of applause, like I am doing right now. That is the best action/sci-fi/drama show on TV. I could spoil so much for you and you wouldn't even realize things were being spoiled. Continue watching, it is an amazing experience.

Second things second (shut up, it's a phrase), I think the maintenance is already over, but that's not going to keep me from playing the single player awesomeness that is Mass Effect. I'm working on my fourth playthrough now. I think this will be the first game that I ever get all the achievement points for.

I have to admit that so far, I am not getting the love for Lost. I am 16 episodes into season one and so far, we have a crazy ass french lady, a psychopath that is looking to kidnap a pregnant lady, said psychopath gets filled full of lead, and finally we are starting to get the “ooh they have interconnected stories” links between people that drives me nuts at times.

I have three seasons worth to get through, but so far, I have found it to be average at best.

The next few seasons are a lot different that this one. This one really focuses on them freaking out and really trying to get off the island. The next couple of seasons sort of dismisses that, although they're sort of still trying to leave. In the following seasons, the people are really trying to solve the mysteries of the island.

  • mclazyj says:

I hope that it does perk up with the next season, but there are still several episodes left for season one. All I know is that I want Walt and his dad to GTF off the island.

They can take their raft and drown themselves for all I care, because their story is so superfluous.

Here is an impression for you, see if you can guess who this is:
