Unique PSN zombie game that isn’t really about zombies getting Trophy patch

zombie-board-gameIs this zombie thing over yet? Between RE5, Burn Zombie Burn, L4D, Dead Rising 2… I’ve about had it. There’s even a PSN/XBLA version of the Zombies!!! board game on the way. I can’t wait for five years from now when the Creature from the Black Lagoon is suddenly ironically trendy.

Out of all the zombie-themed games on PSN, The Last Guy is easily the most egregious. Last Guy insists on calling all of the enemies “zombies” even though they’re all average monster and alien forms. There’s exactly one enemy that could be construed as a zombie, except that he’s purple and about six times as large as the game’s regular humans. There’s no reason to call these things “zombies” other than as pandering name-dropping of the worst kind.

Anyway, Last Guy is getting a free Trophy update tomorrow, which has been rumored for some time. PlayStation Blog broke the news today, with the slightly disappointing reality that the 15 Trophies will not be retroactive. Boo. PS Blog also announced a Last Guy add-on pack coming next month with three additional levels and another eight Trophies. They did not mention a price, but it sounds like another free update to me. Especially since the three levels have to be unlocked by meeting certain conditions in older levels.

    Honestly, I can't wait for Zombies !!! to come out. I <3 board games, and it's been getting harder and harder to get people together to play. I've also been eying this game for awhile as one to add to my arsenal. With it showing up on PSN (hopefully at a price commiserate to that of the actual board game), I'll finally be able to play it with other people.

    Oh, and Plants VS. Zombies rocks. I'm waiting for that to show up on the PSN too.

    So yeah, long live the ZOMBIES!

    Yeah, I've been a fan of the Zombies!!! board game (and expansions) for quite some time… even hung with the game's creators a couple times at various game conventions.

    Isn't “long live zombies” kind of ironic?
