Terminator Salvation Goes MALLOC on PCs

Earlier this morning, there were some rumblings that the PC version of Terminator Salvation might have some issues.  No big deal, as most PC owners are use to bugs and problems on the first day of launch.  However, this was not a bug that could be stamped out, as a manufacturing issue with the physical discs rendered the game unusable, with any attempt to try and install the game  ending with the message, “Error Code: -5006 : 0×80070002.”.

Evolved Games is in the process of recalling all discs that are currently on retail shelves.  The digital distribution does not seem affected by this, as the purchase links are still functioning as of this article’s writing.  Evolved said that  if you are the owner of a bad disc already, they are working on a replacement program for you.  Lets hope it includes a little extra for the troubles.

Well that's a nice thorn in the side of PC games. I really think that PC is going to move away from discs in the very near future (aka sooner than consoles), and into the realm of digital downloads. With the ever shrinking amount of plastic-entombed choices, I can only seeing most publishers jumping on the digital store front bandwagon to ensure they still get their slice of the pie.
