Pictures from the first ever Aeropodcast Home event!
The finished podcast will be posted soon enough, but in the meantime you can check out some pics from our Very Special Aero Home Cast (Not To Be Imitated). When you listen to the audio, you’ll hear myself, Mike Koss and Joe Haygood. Stephen Munn joined up late, and Aerofanboyz Jordan and Lundy stalked us the entire night.
To kick things off, we all met in the central plaza. Mike and Joe informed me that Home does instance you, so you need to select “go to” on your friends list to be sure you end up in the same Home “shard” as your pals.
Everyone danced.
At some point I got tired of the dancing and found some guy in a chicken head Zangief costume to stand beside.
Then we all split up and went to different Home lands. I went to Siren World, but Joe Haygood was having all the fun in Godfather II Land.
This was when we all stood around and watched some (probable) dude chat up some (possible) gal.
Playing a massive game of Texas Hold ‘Em would probably be a great way to hang with the Aeropause crew, but this Home implementation was a little flunky. It kept timing me out (and forcing me to fold) even though I was actively playing and waiting for my turn.
Then we went back to my place. Everybody thought I had bought a bunch of furniture, but I’m not THAT much of a Sony fanboy. Plus they don’t have any items I really like.
The conversation got really deep and meaningful, so I had to step out on to my balcony to clear my head. Sometimes I’m like that at parties, when the hour is late and everybody starts opening up. You’ve played Scattergories, the Chex Mix has run out, and the talk turns to big stuff like politics and religion and how many couches you can fit in the room before running up against the furniture cap. It’s not that I’m uncomfortable sharing of myself, it’s just that getting out there under a never-changing noontime sky and staring at the empty docks below is what I need to keep ahold of what makes me me. I like to take a step back, let it all sink in. Moments like these won’t be around forever, and you should take the time to experience them from all camera angles. Have you ever been at two parties with the exact same crowd? Life is a revolving door, everything changes. The next time we do this, somebody might have a different free shirt on, or maybe one of us will have sprung for one of Sony’s $5 apartments. So this one night is truly a golden shaft of light, fleeting and doomed. For all we know, Red Bull Land will be shut down tomorrow when the sponsorship period ends, so it’s important to live while we still can.
Then we danced some more.
And like every party I’ve ever held, everybody bailed and stuck me with all the cleanup.
