Komodo Wants You To Find Your Old School Nintendo Controllers

Submitted by on May 15, 2009 – 12:44 pm8 Comments

n64-controllerIn all of my gaming years, I have never owned an N64 console, but I have heard from many gamers that feel it had one of the greatest controllers ever.  Gamers felt that the shape and function of the controller wee easily the best out of all the consoles that were out at the time.

So would you like to use that controller for some of your Virtual Console games?  Maybe even connect an old NES or SNES gamepad to play some of those early, early Virtual Console titles?  Well, Komodo has their 3-1 Virtual Connector that will allow the connection of any of these three game controllers via the Gamecube controller ports on the Wii.

The device will set you back $20, but it will allow those that have not enjoyed using the Wii Classic Controller another option to control those classic games.  Check the jump for the 411 from Komodo.

Interesting. The VC N64 games in particular would benefit from this, as the Classic / GameCube controllers almost always map the N64 controls weirdly.

If I had this converter, I might actually enjoy Sin & Punishment on the VC.

I always hated the N64 controller. It was an awesome system with a huge library of great games, but it had three freaking handles! How do you work with that? All I have to work with is the GameCube controller, and that's not much better. I was pretty young at the time, but most of my memories of the controller were bad.

Ignore the left handle. As far as I know, only one game used the cross-key, Kirby 64.

I think No Mercy, a wrestling game, also used the D-Pad. The controller's design is really ugly, though, and I hate the C-buttons.
