Do You Like To Beat The Mentally Infirm?

johnny-ryan-youth-comix-figures-05_bat1Some gamers like being super heroes. Some like solving puzzles and feeling smarter. Some like playing rockstar in front of a roaring virtual crowd. If you like the sound various melee items make when clubbing rabid attackers in an asylum, have we got the sale for you!

NewEgg is listing a smattering of games that get free shipping, and Condemned 2: Bloodshot for the PS3 is on there for just ten bucks. I’m a bit too squeamish for games like this but my brother James tried to get me to play the PSN demo a while back: “You like melee in these games, I know. You have to hear the sickening THWACK of hitting these guys with bats and chair legs and stuff!” I passed but as you can tell, that description has stuck with me.

GameSpot seems to second it from the looks of their MetaCritic quote: “This horror-themed sequel’s thrilling set pieces and bloody combat are remarkably satisfying but not for the faint of heart.”

There are other games that are nice and cheap too. These two are not only superb online titles but have Trophies as well:
Warhawk for $17
Unreal Tournament III for $15

I spent an hour or so playing UT3 with James just the other night and can’t say enough good things about it.

Condemned 2 has always looked awesome to me, but I think I would get freaked out too easily. In Fallout 3, I was a melee master (clubbing the elderly, stabbing cows, etc.). In Condemned 2, I wouldn't feel like a bad-ass; I'd feel like a coward as I turned off the console and ran away screaming.
  • When Steam marked down Unreal Tournament III Black edition to $13.99 on PC, it had a 2000% sales increase, and the play stats were up 2500%. Amazing what a sale will do for your games. And now that there are more players out there for UT3, it is a much better game. It has also been balanced a lot better than it was at launch.
