What Went Wrong: the top 10 biggest issues facing game developers

Submitted by on April 27, 2009 – 12:02 am2 Comments

whatwentwrongGamasutra has posted a nice piece about the top issues facing game developers today. They pored through all their developer postmortems over the last three years and tallied up the biggest complaints and headaches.

Some of the games featured in summary are Rock Band, BioShock, Age of Booty, Gun, Stranglehold, Stubbs the Zombie, and Sam & Max.

While many of the list are no surprise (Outsourcing! Crunch time! Last-minute content!), it’s always interesting to get this kind of candid info straight from the creators. I always enjoy a good postmortem – particularly if the game is a played postmortem for myself as well – and this article is sort of a Greatest Hits of a whole pile of worthy interviews.

Interestingly, the common modern development mistake “contains Sonic” does not appear on this list.
