Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

LittleBigPlanet’s April plans… We’re not just $2 costume packs anymore!

lbp-kingtutPlayStation.Blog has the latest DLC schedule for LittleBigPlanet and things are looking tight tight tight.

First of all, if you haven’t noticed, Media Molecule has been adding some value to the oft-maligned $2 costume by adding in some bonus stickers. For example, last month’s $2 Buzz costume came with a dozen or so Buzz-themed stickers. It’s a small gesture, but it definitely helps me consider dropping the clams. And really, what does it cost MM to output some jpegs for new in-game stickers?

But this month, the biggest news is two FREE updates, v1.12 (code named “Cornish Yarg”) and Creator Pack #1. 1.12 is a nuts-and-bolts release that adds in some nice functionality enhancements. XMB music in your pod, improved Sackperson decoration mode (probably means you can more readily apply stickers to your sack-backside), some in-game store improvements, and the ability to mass-delete all unhearted community objects. That last one is absolutely necessary, as it becomes really easy to fill up your limited profile space with other players’ crazy crap.

Creator Pack #1 brings some sweet level development tools. An infinite lives checkpoint. Tetherless jetpack. The ability to hide certain joint objects in play mode. And a global setting object that can trigger lighting changes! Finally, you’ll be able to program day/night cycles to your levels! Awesome!

It’s like I said months ago, this game’s potential and value as an ongoing platform is unprecedented.

For the release schedule and new $$$ DLC packs, hit the jump.

Infinite Lives checkpoint is pure kid-level awesomeness. Music in design mode is great too if they can keep that in the 1.12 release.

The egyptian theme also caught my eye. Really nice! Norse pack looks great too. So many add-ons, so little time.

I need to put in the time with the MGS level pack. I haven't played through it. Every time I start up LBP I just jump into community level after level after level.

Not just kids… But teenagers who don't like pulling their hair out. I eventually beat the game, but when you are down to your last life and that checkpoint is flashing and emitting the “BONG!!!!BONG!!!!BONG!!!!” noise, it was like the game was taunting me. “Oh really? You're going to jump that early? WELL SCREW YOU!! BACK TO THE BEGINNING!!!!!”

Sweet, I might be playing some LBP again!
