Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

inFamous demo release dangerously makes sense

A PlayStation.Blog update today goes for the snark with the title “inFamous Not Releasing This June After All”… because they shifted the release date UP to May 26!

Unlike a lot of PS3 releases, inFamous is actually dropping the demo before the game hits retail. The demo arrives May 21, but if you pre-order through an as-yet-unnamed store, you can get in on the demo as early as May 7. So there’s a leap of faith for you.

A better pre-order bonus (again, Sony did not specify who was getting what) is the Gigawatt Blades super power pictured above. I plan to check out the demo on the 21st and then if the game rocks, I’ll call whichever retailer is getting the Gigawattage.

And the Sucky Pre-order Prize goes to a limited edition Home costume that makes you look like a homeless person. No thanks.jpg. Hopefully that one went to Game “Opened Games Are New Games Except If You Want To Return Them” Stop.

  • When does Prototype come out? I think they are maybe trying to beat that game to the punch. Both look like fun, but if I could only choose one it would be prototype. It just looks like a lot more fun, but then again they could both be shit.

  • InfinityDevil says:

Nope, the Home costume is from Amazon and the gigawatt blades power goes to you guessed it, GameStop. You can see it on their website.

Annoying, but I doubt I'll be preordering it unless I hear something more compelling than that.

  • JoeFourhman says:

    Aw nertz.

I am definitely waiting for the demo on this one. The preview movies available on PSN look pretty unpolished. I'm expecting GTAIV-level graphics and detail, but if the game plays superfun, then I can overlook the roughness.

And yeah, Prototype does sound cool, although I have seen very little about it compared to Sony's hype over inFamous.

  • mclazyj says:

Prototype was under a huge amount of hype, until the Sierra fire sale. At that point, the game went dark. I believe the game is made by Radical, which has me a bit worried after the travesty that was Scarface.

  • Jordan_Snyder says:

I don't see why people keep comparing the two games. From what I've read the only similarity they share is that they are free-roaming, third-person games. When it comes to the actual gameplay, however, the games seem much different. InFamous has you shooting multiple beams of lightning out of your hands, whereas Prototype has you ripping people to shreds.

  • Jordan_Snyder says:

IGN's Greg Miller has hyped this game a lot, but I won't just go by his word since he is a tad biased as a superhero fan. That said, I will not criticize the man for hyping a game where you shoot freaking lightning out of your arms. That is très chouette (if you look that up, it will say “very owl,” but trust me, it means “cool”).

  • Travis says:

From my experience with pre-order goodies such as the Gigawatt Blades and the costume, all it is a is a code that you get from Gamestop… Soon after the game is released the code will pop up on the internet somewhere available for all to see. They did this with one of the Burnout games a while back with a special Gamestop car, as well as others(I think there was a Target and Walmart car, if I remeber correctly.) In other words I won't be preordering this one… However, I did reserve Prototype. You get an action figure from Gamestop with your preorder. More than likely I will just go in store and buy inFamous on the day of release.

But wheres the demo? i looked for it today and :nothing!

  • Darwin says:

I haven't saw the demo either… Can someone here kindly give us the link to the demo?! I want it watch it too… Thanks !!! ;)

  • morphiend says:

It's due today, and the e-mail from Sony said it should be out today, still.

I'm going to check this evening once I get home from work, and it better damn well be there. ;)

  • Nick says:

I'm looking at the sony email and my PS3, no demo still. If im not electrifying things in the next few hours….well im just going to keep waiting, Damn.

Prototype is an emo game for people who like blood. Infamous is an actual look at a city experiencing a massive fallout because an explosion with unexplained origins. So if you want a lot of blood for no apparent reason and want to learn to be emo then by all means by Prototype. But I gurantee you that InFAMOUS will be more fun and a better experience overall.

  • JoeFourhman says:

I just didn't realize that Prototype vs InFamous was as storied a clash as Mario vs Sonic or Guitar Hero vs Rock Band.

  • INFAMOUS says:

    lol

  • It's really not. I've honestly never heard anything about either.
