I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Goozex drops the 100 point referral bonus you know and love

goozex-logoFrom the time I signed up for Goozex, there was a referral bonus. The way it worked is, if someone signed up for Goozex using you as a reference, you received 100 points and a trading credit every time they completed a trade with positive feedback. The result of this was I was earning something like 300-400 points per month, which supported trades for me when nothing in my “offers” queue was moving. I recently received a referral bonus, but when I checked my account, I still didn’t have any points. I checked for matched requests (which would suck up points right away, of course) and there were none. What gives? Well, it turns out Goozex has stopped giving the 100 point bonus for referrals, and now instead you get just the trading credit. Trading credits are used when you’re confirmed to receive a requested game, at a rate of one per game.

It’s hard to justify complaining when something free becomes smaller. Trading credits are the only thing on Goozex you actually have to pay for to get games, as you don’t get them when you send a game out or anything like you do with points. Referrals and trades could theoretically completely fund your Goozex existence (except for shipping, of course) so in that sense, it’s a better deal than if they instead went with a dollar’s worth of points instead. What would that be, like, 25 points?

From the Sphinx First Thirty: “…I’d give it a go at a mere 100 Goozex points…”

Ooh! I'm sensing some article synergy here! If Goozex was still handing out 100 points for every referral, you could have had Sphinx for free (actually, you might have gotten it for free anyways with saved referral points).

You're exactly right. The points I used for Sphinx and several other trades before it came from referrals. I haven't had a game on my offers list taken in several months. It's as though the demand for games has all but dried up. I used to look at the clearance racks for potential trades, now I look for potential resales.

You'd think that people would being Goozex (and other sources of used games) more due to the economy. Hmm… That is pretty peculiar.
