Darkest of Days Developer Diary

Submitted by Joe Haygood on April 8, 2009 – 5:07 pmComments

About a year ago, I read a little preview in PC Gamer about a new company entering the gaming scene, and producing what looked to be a rather interesting concept called Darkest of Days. Since that point, I have heard very little from developer Phantom EFX until today, when the company released a developer diary on MSNBC.com.

In the video, we get to see some of the time concepts that they are working with for the game, and a plot that sounds somewhat similar to Timecop. Your character works for an agency that monitors time travel and has been alerted to changes in the timestream that are altering the future. You are sent back in time to find people that have been put in harm’s way that are critical to key points in history. Time points that have been verified for use in the game include Pompeii, World War I and the Civil War.

The big mystery about the game is Phantom EFX themselves. Up until Darkest of Days, their gaming focus has been more of the digital slot machine variety, so it will be interesting to see how they deal with the much more difficult and complex gaming marketplace. Check out the official Darkest of Days website for more information on the game.
