Aeropodcast #79: BTW, The 360 Sucks

Submitted by on April 21, 2009 – 12:48 am22 Comments

xboxsucksIt’s just Koss and Fourhman for mighty mighty Aeropodcast #79!  With Haygood busy on his playdate, there’s nobody to defend the 360 from our crushingest criticism… so let the barbs fly (or whatever barbs do when unfettered.)

Inspired by Six Days in Fallujah, the topic at hand is what happens when wargames play up too much war… does it come at the expense of the game, or does it fall short of war entirely? Fallujah has been building steam as a realistic look at some very recent Iraq War events, but will it live up to that lofty goal?

In community news, we talk a little about the nigh-inevitable future of downloadable games, leading to Our Glorious Disk-Free World. In the news, we discuss Star Trek in Home, the sad case of GTA: Chinatown Wars, what firearms you may need to trade for a PSP, and the impending doom of Nintendo now that Japan has said nothanks.jpg to Deca Sports 2. Also, Animal Crossing comes up more times than you might expect.

And with a running time of 1:15, this is our first podcast in a while that you can actually finish in under a week’s worth of bus commutes!  Oh, and whenever you hear Fourhman mention “Resident Evil 4,” know that he’s really talking about “Resident Evil 5.” This is our secret code for you, our biggest fan.

Due to their hatred of the 360, Koss and Fourhman have been banished to Noby Noby Boy's arse.

  • JoeFourhman

And there's still more for me to do there than on a 360!

  • http://www.aeropause.com mclazyj

At least we don't have Home! Wait, was that too low a blow. That might be cruel and unusual insulting. I apologize.

  • InfinityDevil

Beautiful writeup. Can't wait to download and give it a listen.

  • JoeFourhman

Yeah, you guys have to do the running man all by yourselves.

  • william745

that may be so but at least we can do it across all games we own.

  • http://www.aeropause.com mclazyj

We may not be doing the Running Man, but I will be playing real, actual games…..OOOOOOO….BURN!

  • william745

the funniest line in this podcasst is when joe said and now a reason to turn on home.

  • Jordan_Snyder

Oh yeah! Well we get to PAY for our online! Suck on that! Wait…

There is no reason to ever turn on Home!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Richard-Windsor/761743905 Richard Windsor

    AH SNAP! NO YOU DIDN'T!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Richard-Windsor/761743905 Richard Windsor

You should never consider that a downside, when something is 100x better then the competition its worth paying for. With Sony you truly get what you pay for.

  • Jordan_Snyder

Oh I absolutely love Xbox Live, but in this economy PS3 owners are lucky they can still play online without paying. For Xbox 360 owners, it's just another expense in a hard time. I would never give up my Xbox Live, though, and I do find it to be millions of times better than PSN.

  • Jordan_Snyder

When I said I'm not sure gaming will ever completely go digital, I meant that there will still be at least some disks in stores, like you guys said about CDs. I also don't think that the majority of gaming will be digital next generation either. Less than half of Xbox 360 owners are connected to Xbox Live, meaning that a company like Microsoft or Sony might be compromising their sales.

  • lundy3311

This is a short podcast… or at least compared to the other ones.

  • Jordan_Snyder

I like all my podcasts short, although this, Listen UP!, and the Giant Bombcast usually stretch past the 1 and a half hour mark.

  • morphiend

So would you say that you prefer the 'shorter time' format?

  • Jordan_Snyder

I mean, I'm not going to stop listening if it longer, but yeah, I prefer shorter shows.

What a great show. Just proves my point – everything is better without Joe Haygo…oh, HEY! What's up, Heygood?

    Great to see you!

    Yeah, um…missed you on the…er, podcast…this week.

Hate for a console is a way to cover up your true desire for that said console. Its okay, we can't all own Xbox 360's.
