Aeropodcast #76: Aeropause The Movie Casting Call

Koss, Stephen, Fourhman and Joe get together for one of the funnier podcasts we have done.  First off apologies for our guest not showing up.  I will withhold his name, so he does not receive any more shame.  But we did come up with some great imaginary guest thoughts for future podcasts.  Also we had a spirited discussion about the big buzz point of GDC, OnLive.  Is it good, bad or indifferent?  Can it move past the steps that Phantom made many years before it?  We dig into the service and try to evaluate where it will stand with gamers.

In our community corner, we had one of the greatest questions ever, that fueled our title.  TheTony asked who would play each of us in Aeropause The Movie.  Listen to our choices and let us know if you agree.  We also made a segue into an impromptu about riding on a boat.  IN our news section, we find out who does and does not watch videos on the site when we discussed the Fallout 3 “The Pitt” DLC issues, Mappy coming to another platform, milking of the Final Fantasy franchise on Wii and more.

The podcast as always is put together our expert mixmaster, Stephen.

Trogdor is a friend of mine, not Harshy. he's pretty new to the whole actually following video games.
  • Jordan_Snyder
Haha, I was actually going to post this, but I forgot. I heard someone say it on the podcast and it made me stop and think, "Wait... That's not right!" It's okay, though, they tend to make errors, *cough* Jonathan *cough*.
  • Haygood: Paul Giamatti
    Fourhman: David Cross
    Koss: John Cena
Munn: Samuel L. Jackson (because, diversity)

Pig Vomit, 1/2 of Mr. Show, a WWE Superstar and Marsellus Wallace. All in Uwe's capable hands.

    Yes.

Also - I kind of liked the music beds between segments, this week. Any way you could add chapter breaks, Stephen?

(Not that I'd ever want to skip over long segments that are largely about PC gaming, or anything...)
  • StephenJMunn
Thanks, we had those bumpers between sections early on in our podcasting as well, but when I stopped becoming a regular I didn't know where the sections were ending, and it took too long to find them with my limited schedule. This particular podcast was one where I was on and had a little more time to work on the editing. I'd have to ask someone on the show to write down the times sections change in order to keep doing that. Fourhman seems nice, maybe I'll ask him.

I can add chapter breaks only if I write to AAC instead of MP3, and that would exclude some models of audio player. I'm not sure Zune or PSP can read that format. If I stick with MP3 we're not cutting out the one half of one percent of our audience that's not using an iPod. Like Paul, for example.

What we could do is start writing down time signatures in the podcast post so you can know where to jump to on your own.
  • Jordan_Snyder
I'm one of the faithful PSP listeners, so I might devastated if you switched to AAC. I love being able to subscribe to a podcast, stream it directly to my ears (or nose if I'm feeling wild) or save it to my memory stick to listen to later. Sony succeeded in that aspect of the PSP.
  • Gotcha'. Wouldn't want to cause those Zune owners any more undue hardship. Their lives already suck hard enough.

    Just a thought - I'll still listen without times/chapters.

And Haygood...I guess I should've seen Pulp Fiction more than once 10 years ago. My bad. Should've gone with a Snakes on a Plane ref, anyway.

    HAYGOOD: "What's wrong, Stephen?"
MUNN: "I've had it with these motherf***in' snakes on this motherf***in' podcast!"

    YES!
  • How about:

Haygood: Which Castlevania game is yours?
Munn: The one that says Bad Mutha F**ka on it.

And a Snakes on a Plane reference would be far better than a Great White Hype reference. Damn, Samuel L. Jackson has been in some crappy movies. Loaded Weapon I anyone?
  • Jordan_Snyder
The Star Wars prequels sucked as well. Apparently there was only one black man alive at a time in the Star Wars universe.
  • damn right, where is Blackula when you need him.
  • you sir, made a cardinal sin...Samuel L. Jackson was not Marsellus Wallace, that was Ving Rhames. Samuel L. Jackson was Jules, "my man in Inglewood".

Check out the big brain on Haygood!!!
  • Jordan_Snyder
    Haygood: Andy Dick
    Fourhman: Aaron Eckhart
    Koss: Nicolas Cage
    Munn: Josh Radnor

    PERFECTION!
  • StephenJMunn
Now I have to go find out who Josh Radnor is. And Aaron Eckhart.
  • StephenJMunn
Wow, ha! They kinda look like us.
  • Jordan_Snyder
I know, right! But now I must show my disgust because you have apparently not seen How I Met Your Mother or The Dark Knight. I do, however, forgive you. :)
  • StephenJMunn
I saw The Dark Knight, I just didn't recognize the name.
  • Jordan_Snyder
Fair enough. I didn't learn his name until a couple weeks after the movie.
  • If you want to see a really good movie with Aaron Eckhart, check out Thank You For Not Smoking. Really good flick, and he does an excellent job.

i loved the super mario brothers movie when i was a kid im pretty sure i was the only one renting it at the video store.
  • StephenJMunn
I watched it on VHS as well. That scene with the Koopa Troopas dancing in the elevator was hilarious to me as a kid.
