Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Unreal Tournament III PS3 2.00 Is Out

Submitted by on March 11, 2009 – 9:33 pm3 Comments

ut3_whiteblotchy_330pxIt looks like certification is done for Unreal Tournament III patch 2.00 for the PlayStation 3 as it is out now. This includes Trophies for the venerable, inexpensive, still good looking, and high-octane shooter developed by Epic Games and published by nearly-defunct Midway. Just pop the disc in, load it up, and the 90-something meg patch will be downloaded and applied.

Trophy support is pretty detailed in 2.00 with the Community menu adding a Trophies section to show trophy-by-trophy progress indicators. It shows you, for example, how many times out of the 10 you need you’ve been called “Flak Master!” by the announcer in a match to get the Have A Nice Day trophy. Click here for the full Trophy list.

Also available is an improved mod browser connected to a pretty slim collection of items on ut3mod.com as well as your already loaded items from memory stick. You can still load mods from your memory stick as you could before.

The Titan Pack content, however, is not yet out for the PS3. That must be coming on March 19th as previously stated and builds on what the 2.00 patch adds to the game.

Happy fragging!

I will say that I finally fired up Unreal Tournament 3 after a year of dust on the box, and all the patching as of late has really tightened the game up quite a bit. It also seems like the speed is dialed back just a tick, making things a little easier to keep up with everyone on the server of your choice.

And of course, Steam Achievements just add to the must play factor at this point in time.

I've also noticed that over time the tweaks have improved things. Seeing a little animated audio icon appear on top of the bot's name that's talking to me when they're in view is helpful, and I don't remember the tutorials from the first time I played. I guess they were there, but I don't remember seeing them.

I didn't realize that holding an orb by a capture point you already own shields it from damage. It of course means they come after you but if you're working together you could really do some serious work repelling an attack on that point.
