Steam Specials for World of Goo and Unreal Tournament 3

Submitted by Joe Haygood on March 6, 2009 – 5:33 pmComments

3332523541_f6ea3ef07aAs always, Steam has announced their weekend deal, but we got a special treat because there are two games getting special offers.  The first game that is on special is World of Goo, the highly rated title from developer, 2D Boy.  In World of Goo, you build structures, bridges and all kinds of other items for the citizens of Goo.  It is a physics based puzzle game, and the low price of $4.99, you can’t beat it (its 75% off for those that like to know their discount percentages).

The other sale item is not a true sale, but the guys at Epic are letting anyone kick the tires on Unreal Tournament 3 for free all weekend long.  You can download the full client and play as much as you want starting today and ending on Sunday night.  I believe the version this week is the updated and patched version that has the Steam Cloud implementation, but I am not totally certain.  If you find you like the title, it will be marked down to $11.99 all weekend, a 40% savings.

UPDATE: It was publisher Brighter Minds Media that went bankrupt, not 2D Boy.  My bad on mixing up publishers and developers.  And yes, purchase is confirmed as of 3:30PM this afternoon.

  • How come I didn't see this advertised? Thanks Joe for finding this. I just bought it.

Hmm....It's embarrassing when reporters don't get their facts straight. It wasn't the developers but one of their publishers that went belly-up.
  • You are correct sir, and it will be fixed. Everyone is entitled a mistake from time to time.

Yeah, just like how I let it slide when you mess up my name.
