Madworld Hits Store Shelves

I can’t believe I missed this piece of information, but if you own a Wii, and you need a serious infusion of blood and gore, Madworld has finally hit store shelves as of yesterday.  Madworld takes a stylistic approach, similar to Sin City to weave a tale of violence and destruction.  The visuals are looking top notch, and the over the top bloodshed will be a new test for the Wii, which is normally known for its more family-centric titles.

Also, Platinum Games, developer of Madworld, has released a web game that gives players a feel for what Madworld is all about.  Check it out at www.madworldgame.com.

I'm still undecided about this game. It definitely looks cool (and from the reviews, it's definitely a good game), but I don't know how long it would last me with Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5 just coming out. This is quite the conundrum.

There was some discussion about this topic in the most recent Nintendo Voice Chat podcast over at IGN. While they all agreed that RE5 is a great game, and they all were getting it, they also agreed that they're more excited about MadWorld. Why? Because MadWorld is something different, special and new, in addition to being a great game. RE5 is really just RE4 in a different setting with better graphics. Nothing wrong with that, of course, RE4 was awesome.

That's the thing. I do find it very unique and intriguing, and while I might have a fun experience with the game, I think both Resident Evil 5 and Killzone 2 would last longer for me. If I don't buy it, I'll hate myself for letting an actual quality titles pass by on Wii, but if I do buy it, I'll be missing out on other great games as well (some that I need to catch up on).
