Aeropodcast #73: Poppin’ The Cherry

Submitted by on March 11, 2009 – 9:33 pm14 Comments

saraThis is an extra special podcast this week, as we are visited by one Sara “DirtyDiva” Nicholson, formerly of Gamerscoreblog.com. It was her first podcast, so we tried to go easy on her. Of course it was our first female guest on the podcast, so it was an episode, chock full of firsts. Our discussion this week focused on the future generations of consoles and whether digital downloads would become the normal distribution path for those devices. While I felt that some publishers would take that step, eager to keep profits closer to home, everyone else seemed to think that it was one generation too soon. But we did look towards Valve as someone that might dabble with the concept of digital delivery as a means of game purchase on the console.

We read off a new review that we received from one Assassin10K from The10K.com, while Jebediah Snyder asks us about musical instrument saturation. We all had the thought that we had already reached a saturation point, but our news section proved that the game companies seem to think otherwise. Yes, in the news we talk about the new Beatles: Rock Band title that will have specialty instruments coming out for it, N’Gai Croal leaving Newsweek and the Regigigis that is coming to Toys R Us soon just to name a few items. We also apologize for the longer podcasts, but we feel that in the end, good discussion should never be cut back for the clock.

Music is brought to you by RevolutionVoid, at www.revolutionvoid.com. The podcast as always is put together by our expert mixmaster, Stephen.  Images via www.saranicholson.com.

MILESTONE! First female guest. Always a nice accomplishment. I remember The Wiire's first female guest because it was the first podcast episode (of anything) I'd ever listened to. They had Atlus' Amy Barklow. I shall listen to this before my slumber tonight.

    P.S.
In regards to “Jebediah,” how did you know I used to be Amish?

I blame my 40 minute lecture on improving Home for the podcast size.

Fourhman made both a Grove Street “families” AND Home Improvement ref in ONE episode. Perhaps within one HALF-HOUR. Unbelievable. (Also he remained uncomfortably quiet on the topic of buying a game and having a physical copy to keep/display.)

Great points about the game size/bandwidth/infrastructure stuff…but also remember that Sony loves the HELL out of releasing proprietary media. If you're playing something, they want to have invented the thing you're using to play it. I bet they'd be REALLY against an all-download console, because they wouldn't be able to force you to use Blu-Rays (stupid name, still and always) or whatever.

Sara was a welcome addition – even if her audio sounds like It Came from Outer Space (TM) on the podcast.

She was having some problems with her mic and we had to use the built in Mac mic, so we had to edit out the occasional fan that would start to kick in on the laptop. But still, she is audible, and had some great zingers, including our wonderful title.

She was indeed a sassy lady. Unfortunately, the title was once again stolen from Mr. Fourhman. Why couldn't she have mentioned pooping!?!?

In no way to I wish to imply that the audio problems made her any less of an enjoyable presence on the ‘cast.

I do have to Beatles Nerd out, for a moment.

Ringo was actually the FIRST Beatle to quit the band. The other guys had to talk him back in and constantly reassure him as things got rockier.

After that, I believe all of them toyed with leaving – Paul was the one who made it official and made it stick.

Still, play as Ringo. Then, your bandmates all have to hug you and tell you what a great job you’re doing after every song.

I just don't think “Pooping the Cherry” would have gone over well with anyone.

  • Jordan_Snyder

I didn't realize how similar the two words were. Oh well, I'm glad I got the sound-alike since I couldn't get the real thing. Who would have thought that a title so vulgar, although not as vulgar as the last title, would be coming from a female!?

I'm still catching up on podcats, just listened to this one. A good podcast, though Sara was a bit underused, or maybe just a little shy for being her first time.

And boy is the music genre getting disgusting or what? Can't wait to see something fail to buck the trend from GH or RB… though not sure when that is going to happen.
