Mass Effect Saves Transfer to the Sequel

masseffectdlc_wideblogAnyone that reads this site knows I am a huge Mass Effect fan.  I have put the time in to create two level 60 characters and have been working through two more to complete all the achievements.

So words could not contain my enthusiasm when I heard the news that my saved characters will carry over to the Mass Effect sequel.  This little nugget of information came up in a documentary that is on the Greatest Hits repackaging of Mass Effect.  This opens the door to the possibility of a higher level cap, but may cause havok to the play balance if you come in as an all powerful SPECTRE.

The bigger implication would be if it can read the decisions you made in the original Mass Effect, and modify the sequel to contain those choices.  A good example would be if the sequel could read  that I chose Anderson over Udama, or vice versa.  Or that I chose a relationship with one person over another.  That would really make the save import a bigger idea than just something as simple as importing the character data.
