Pokemon Diamond/Pearl players take note… there’s ANOTHER free download event coming this week. Starting tomorrow, February 8 and lasting through the 14th, you can get Shaymin for the low low price of standing within Toys R Us’s WiFi blanket with your Pokemon DS game in download mode. Shaymin figures heavily into the newest Pokemon animated movie, “Giratina and the Sky Warrior,” which premieres on Cartoon Network next Friday at 7pm.

Shaymin will arrive on your copy of Diamond or Pearl in its “land forme.” Transferring the creature into the upcoming Pokemon Platinum will turn it into its sky forme. Whoopee!

Hackers had already revealed Shaymin’s existence in Diamond/Pearl long before Nintendo released the first official acknowledgement of the character, and this event is the only legitimate way to add it to your Pokedex. Word is that TRU will also hand out coupons for $5 off any Pokemon DS game.

Additionally, sites are reporting that Toys R Us will host another download event in March, where you’ll be able to get Regigigas. Regigigas can be caught “natively” inside Diamond/Pearl, if you follow a complicated sequence involving the transfer of three rare Regi pokemon from the GBA Pokemon series… so this event would be a way to snag Regigigas even if you do not own the GBA games. This event will be held March 8 through 21, leading up to the release of Pokemon Platinum on March 22nd.
