Gametap Thursday: Mafia and Full Spectrum Warrior
This week, Gametap will be releasing a favorite game of mine for subscribers to play, along with another great game, that I need to finish.
The first title this week is Mafia, a great game focusing on the mob in the 30′s in the town of Lost Heaven. Mafia came out in 2003, to great reviews, and a story that basically ended up out-godfathering the EA made Godfather game. Stylish visuals, hard edge mafia violence, and a great capture of the 1930′s, Mafia is a game that no PC gamer should miss out on playing.
Full Spectrum Warrior is a game that I have had on my shelf for oh-so-long now, and have yet to have started. It is marketed as a real time tactics shooter, using real world Army weapons and vehicles. You can also manipulate in level items to create cover and so forth. Highly advanced for its time, it is suppose to be a ton of fun for those that like a little strategy with their action.
As always, Gametap has a few games they make free for a full week, to give those with a silver membership a taste of what is on the gold side of the fence. This week the free game is Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain, a great romp that was created by Amy Hennig. Who is she? Only the brains behind a little PS3 title called Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. An added bonus this week for silver members is the complete second season of Grimm, all free for the upcoming weekend. From Feb. 6th to 8th, you can play through all the season two episodes of Grimm, getting everyone ready for the final season of Grimm, starting on Feb 12th. As always, the new season of Grimm will allow everyone to play each episode for free during the first 24 hours of release.
Finally, Gametap has announced two titles that will be coming to the service soon, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Dark Crusade and Titan Quest, including its Immortal Throne expansion pack.
