I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

Death Tank Kills

deathtankI grabbed the demo for Death Tank which is now live on XBLA.  The “Worms in real time” concept of this game is appealing, but at first I didn’t think I was going to like it.  After playing online for 30 minutes or so and getting used to the controls, I have changed my mind.  Death Tank kills!  The demo is excellent because, as near as I can tell, it allows you to play the complete game for 60 minutes before it shuts down.  This gave me enough time to improve at game to the point where the host of my online session quit in a huff.  Pansy.  Death Tank is pricey at 1200 MS points, but the demo gives you enough time to figure out if you really want to spend the money.  Seems worth it to me.

From the picture, it looks more like Scorched Earth in real-time. Interesting.

I'm pretty sure you can get this game on the iPhone too…I must check the App Store.

I've seen Worms clones in the App Store, but not anything in real-time. Death Tank lets you scroll through weapons, drive at variable rates, and even blast off into the air across the map when opt for the jet pack upgrade. Seems like it'd be hard to do all of that with just a touch screen for input, but I've been wrong before about what can be accomplished with multi-touch.
