Capcom Makes Lost Planet 2 Official Today
Everyone knew early this morning that something was afoot with Capcom if you had your eyes on the Xbox 360 dashboard. It seemed that Capcom had a new game announcement that they were going to do live on the Xbox 360 marketplace. And what might that game be? Why it is Lost Planet 2, the sequel to the surprise hit of last year on the Xbox 360 and PC.
As you can see from the launch trailer that was put out this morning (thank you Kotaku for getting a postable version), Lost Planet 2 is no longer stuck to the brutal wasteland of cold winter. Now we have rivers, oceans and even jungle areas that give the Lost Planet universe a new look and feel. Also new this round is complete co-op play for the main storyline, which will now focus on several main characters instead of one. The trailer also shows off some multi-turreted mechs that can be piloted by several people on your team in battle, as well as what looks like complete squad based games.
All of this is handled by the in-house tech engine that Capcom has developed, called the MT-Framework 2.0. No word on the platforms that Lost Planet 2 will come out on, but it would be safe to assume that the Xbox 360 will be one of them, and more than likely, another trip to the PC as well. The PS3 is probably in the mix as well, although will it be a same date release or a timed Microsoft exclusive is the underlying question that has not been answered. We also did not get a release date, but the announcement of more info in the near future ties in nicely to either GDC or E3.

The first Lost Planet for me was hit and miss. I liked the game, but it felt like they could have done so much more. Looking at the trailer it looks like the game could be a lot better then the first.
I liked Lost Planet at first, but it grew kind of old after awhile. Also the bosses were rather difficult to battle on your own. When Colonies Edition came out, the original game still had its flaws, but the multiplayer was revamped and played a lot better. Lost Planet 2 looks to have been created with answers to the complaints that myself and many other Lost Planet gamers have made over the last 12-18 months.
Looks like 4 player co-op, if so this game will be a day one purchase.
I couldn't beat the last boss so I gave up on the SP game over a year ago…The visuals in 2 look fan-bloody-tastic though!
i was super hard core into the first one i was in a clan and such so i really want this to to come out like yesterday.
