Rygar: The Battle of Argus shipping February 3 at $40 price point

We haven’t heard much of anything about the Wii-make of the PS2 Rygar game in quite a while, but it’s due in a couple of weeks now. Tecmo was kind enough to let us know with a nice e-mail, but there are a couple of things I could suggest to them for next time around. Most importantly, if the best critical acclaim they could come up with before the game made it to most reviewers was this faint praise from Nintendo Power, perhaps they should have used that space for some of that bitchin’ character art that we saw when the port was announced.

“If you’ve ever wanted to play God of War on a Wii, Rygar: The Battle of Argus is as close as you’re likely to get.” “Rating 7.0″ – Nintendo Power, Holiday 2008 issue

Still, I am interested in this game. I enjoyed the Rygar game for NES a great deal back when that was current-gen, and I like the “diskarmor” concept. Heck, who doesn’t want to fight using what’s effectively a giant sharpened metal yo-yo? Many of us got hooked on that idea back in the Startropics days. There’s that, and also the fact that the press release below pushes the hero’s captivating looks and charm. Very nice.
