Big Unreal Tournament 3 Update Includes Steamworks

Submitted by on January 29, 2009 – 6:33 pmNo Comment

unrealtournament3logoThe folks over at Epic have decided to implement Steamworks into their latest patch, allowing for things such as stat tracking, system configurations and other items to be saved on Steam’s servers.  The update should be coming very soon, but will have one extra benefit for those that own a retail copy of the game.

Starting today, anyone that bought Unreal Tournament 3 for the PC at retail can register it with Steam, where it will be added to your list.  This means that you will no longer have to install the game via disc, as it will install from Steam.  Very cool of both Epic and Valve to work out this deal.  To add Unreal Tournament to your Games list, just go to the My Games tab in Steam and click the Register a Game button at the bottom of that page.  You will just need your serial number so you can validate ownership of the game.

Hopefully, more companies will start to work out deals like this with Steam, as it would make it so much easier to keep track of my game collection, and allow me to play my games anywhere I can sign in.
