Spore most pirated PC game of 2008 despite harsh anti-piracy measures

Submitted by Jeremy Yerby on December 7, 2008 – 12:35 pmComments

About the only thing that garnered more press attention than a game made by Will Wright was a game made by Will Wright with some really strict DRM. DRM which, in this case, did very little other than annoy actual, legal owners of the game, leaving the pirates who stripped all the SecuROM bullcrap out of the game free to enjoy the game without annoyance.

So it should be little surprise that despite having the most publicized anti-piracy measures, Spore easily claimed the most pirated (or actually, torrented) title for 2008, according to TorrentFreak. Tsk tsk.

Other games on the list include The Sims 2, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, and Far Cry 2.
