Gamestop lied, Chrono Trigger preorder CD wasn’t exclusive

Submitted by Stephen Munn on December 1, 2008 – 8:53 pmComments

Gamestop’s pricing of Chrono Trigger at the MSRP of $40 was not surprising. It was the reason I cancelled my preorder there and went with Amazon, whose price was somewhat lower. What disappointed me was Gamestop’s later revelation that they would have an exclusive bonus soundtrack CD for those who preodered the game at Gamestop. Of course, Chrono Trigger’s music, some of Yasunori Mitsuda’s best, is worth a bit more than say… well, than none of Mitsuda’s music. I considered switching back to Gamestop, but decided that the price difference was enough to warrant not doing so, when I’m trying to stop using Gamestop at all these days.

It turns out I made the right choice. My copy of Chrono Trigger arrived today with that soundtrack shrinkwrapped to it, as well as the poster which is only being included with the first run of the game, which you can be sure are pretty much already gone at this point

I’ll be back to you with some words on the soundtrack and poster soon, but as I understand it there’s very little music on the CD.
