Drunken Testimonial: Lips (Xbox 360)

Submitted by Jeremy Yerby on November 27, 2008 – 7:40 pmComments

As I type this I am but one member of a room full of drunken people who are having an absolute blast with Microsoft and Inis’s newest contribution to digital party entertainment. I know the reviews out there are so-so but to be honest this kind of experience sorta slips through the critical strainer we use for every other game; sadly current scoring systems rarely rate a game based on its “drunken playability” statistic. Everyone here is having an absolute blast just singing along to the rather good track last. Kasey hooked her iPod up to the 360 and they have been going nuts singing Incubus, Deftones, and others that are not on the game’s track list. The microphones themselves have been a big hit with everyone here as they put on a light show and are motion-sensitive. I think something like this works better than Rock Band in a non-gamer crowd because some people are intimidated by the instruments in the other rhythm games. Lips is not an especially deep game but I’ve never seen so many people get into something that was going on on the screen at one time. Here are some fuzzy shots from my iSight on my MacBook.
