Bungie Renames Halo 3: Recon To Halo 3: ODST

    By Levi Thornton | November 26, 2008

Halo gave word today that their next Halo game has a new name:

As of today, the game formerly known as Halo 3 : Recon will henceforth be known as Halo 3 : ODST.

The upcoming Bungie project formerly known as “Halo 3 : Recon” will now be known as “Halo 3 : ODST.”

If you recall, this is our recently announced stand-alone extension to Halo 3 that features an all new campaign played from the perspective of an ODST in the heart of a Covenant occupied New Mombasa.

I’m not too fussy when it comes to name changes, because eventually we all get use to the name(i.e. Wii). I do feel like Halo 3: ODST is way more confusing than Halo 3 Recon. Bungie, I’m sure 90% of the Halo fan base does not read the novels. Heck, I have no idea what ODST stands for and I’m a big fan of the Halo franchise. At least it still has the word “Halo” in the title.
