Yes, of course we knew this: Yoda/Vader DLC coming to Soulcalibur 4

yoda, famous actor in star wars movies I told you, I told you, I told you.

1up reported today that the once-console-exclusive Star Wars characters – nonsensically smushed into my beloved Soulcalibur franchise – will be offered as $5 DLC. This means I’ll be able to buy Yoda for my PS3 version and you 360 lads will be able to buy Darth Vader. That little exclusivity ruse didn’t last too long, did it?

Although $5 is too expensive for a single new SC4 character, I’ll likely pick up Yoda just so I have somebody non-sucky to lightsaber battle Darth Vader. Come on, the Secret Apprentice?!? He sucked, and now that we’re all off the Force Unleashed afterglow, I think we can all admit that game sucked too. And soon to also suck: Lightsaber Duels on Wii. So there’s no shame in settling for hot saber-on-saber action here in Soulcalibur.

The $64 question (almost literally!): is this a genuine download or just unlocking a character that is already on the disk? I’ll wager it is on-disk, especially if the characters arrive with all the campaign-specific cutscenes found in single player mode. Keep an eye on the size of that download when the DLC shows up next week on both PS3 and 360.
