Rockstar Breaks GTA4 Trophy Silence

gta4 cityscapeJust over two months after Grand Theft Auto 4 showed up on April 29th Sony rolled out firmware 2.40 for the PS3. Once the firmware showed up the forums echoed with the statement that it sure would be nice if GTA4 got a Trophy patch, wouldn’t it?

And we heard nothing. Me I thought it was a lost cause. Heck at least Capcom had been nice enough to actually say no to Devil May Cry 4 Trophies instead of ignore us the way Rockstar and Konami (with no Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophies) have.

Today, perhaps in the face of the taunting advertisements for Saints Row 2, Rockstar has released the list of Trophies coming to GTA4 for the PS3. No word on when the patch will drop, but if it shows up late this month it’ll have the distinction of landing fully six months after the game was released.

It looks suspiciously like a tactic to bump sales into the holiday season, and that makes me irritated at Rockstar. But since I still own the game and didn’t sell it or trade it away I’m still probably going to play it through all over again when the patch hits and time permits. But as you’ll see from my upcoming post on what’s hitting the PS3 just this month it’s going to have a hard time finding some time in my console this Fall.
