Rock Band Takes The Beatles for the Win

Submitted by Joe Haygood on October 30, 2008 – 12:21 amComments

So a few months ago, we ran a story about The Beatles looking into putting their music into one, or both of the rhythm based games on the market.  Immediately, the speculation was afoot, whether it would be Rock Band or Guitar Hero, or some strange offshoot from another company.

Well, today we got the answer, as MTV and Harmonix have pulled off one of the biggest signings in the musical genre of games, by getting The Beatles to release some of their songs for Rock Band and Rock Band 2.  Now, nothing in the story says this is an exclusive, but for now, it looks to be that Rock Band has pulled off a neat trick that iTunes has not been able to manage, which is getting the Fab Four to license their music to a digital download service.

Also not mentioned is whether this will be staggered DLC, or if they will be getting the AC/DC treatment, by getting a separate release that can be imported into Rock Band 2.

No word on the songs available, but if Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band isn’t in there, I will have to shed a tear.
