DSi Will be Region Locked, Point Cards Are Not Interchangable

People are still absorbing all the new Nintendo announcements that came out of the pre-TGS conference they held last week.  One of those announcments included a new DS, called the DSi.

More details have come out regarding the new DSi, including the new bullet point on the device stating that it will be region locked, killing any chance of cool imports to make their way to the States.  The other big news was that when you buy a points card, you will hae to use it with the Wii or with the DSi.  This is due to the fact that the systems are not linked, requiring points to be applied to one system or another.

Why is it that every time Nintendo makes an announcement that has some promise, more stuff comes out that brings the announcement down.
