I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

What A Surprise: No Online Co-Op For Fable II At Launch

Submitted by on September 27, 2008 – 11:43 amNo Comment

Yesterday, it was announced that Fable II would not have its online co-op features in the shipping version of the game.  Instead, they would be added shortly after release with a patch.  However, the local co-op support will still be available at the time of Fable II’s release date.

Well, who did not see that coming.  A Peter Molyneux game not finished at the time of its launch?  Come on now, there has been more than ample rumor and report that this game was not ready for an October launch date, and this story just confirms those fears.  Online co-op was one of the featues that Peter touted, going all the way back to the GDC in February.  And remember his bold statement that Fable II had gone gold weeks ago?  Its funny that no mention of this was made at that point.

Some may wonder why I am bitter about this, and it is primarily due to Peter Molyneux constantly offering tons of info about his games, only to have to backtrack on those promises at a later date.  We all know about the history of the first Fable.  Good game, but a lot of the promises we were given by Sir Peter, were never fulfilled.  Black and White had tons of potential, but never lived up to the visions of the presentations given to us by Peter Molyneux.  I think a lot of people just wanted Peter to stop talking about Fable II and just present it when ready, and instead he continued his parade, announcing all these features and ideas, and now it looks like some are already meeting the cutting room floor.

Will online co-op come to Fable II?  Probably, because the feature has been so hyped that I think it will get a huge knock against it if it is not available at some point.  It is just upsetting that a game that was supposedly gold a few weeks ago, is not really finished, according to the designers original vision.
